About Vega

Vega is named after the star astronomers used as the reference point for measuring the brightness of every other star. We like that idea: a steady, dependable baseline you can build on.

We're a small team of players and sysadmins in New Zealand building the hosting we always wanted for our own communities: fast hardware, honest pricing, and the freedom to pay by the hour while you figure out what your server needs.

Why we started

Most of us came to hosting the same way: running a server for friends, then watching it outgrow a plan we'd already paid for. Fixed bundles never quite fit. You either overpaid for resources you didn't use, or hit a ceiling at the worst moment, like the night of a big event.

So we built Vega around a simple idea. You choose exactly the memory, CPU and storage you need, you see the price as you move the sliders, and you can change your mind later.

What we do

• Game servers. Pick your game, set your resources and have a server running in minutes, managed from a full control panel.
• VPS and web hosting. The same straightforward approach for projects that aren't games.
• Custom services. Need something that doesn't fit a plan? We set it up and bill it the same way as everything else.

How we think about it

• Pay for what you use. Billing is by the hour or by the month, and a longer term costs less. Running a server for a weekend event costs you a weekend, not a month.
• Change it when your needs change. Upgrade or downgrade memory, CPU and storage from your client area. Switching between hourly, monthly and yearly billing is there too.
• Clear pricing. The price you see while building is the price you pay. No setup fees hiding in the checkout.
• Real people. When you open a ticket, someone on our team reads it. We play these games too, so we usually know what you're talking about.
• Built to be automated. Our client API lets you deploy, resize and manage servers from your own tools and scripts.

We're a local team, and we run on New Zealand time. That means support from people in your timezone and a company you can actually reach. We're proud to be building from here.
